A few of my friends were talking about the Dragon's tail in Ten/NC today and I was wanting to know when is a good time to go? Also if anyone wants to ride along we will be coming up from NW Florida.

 

Pretty much anytime is good. Early spring, like around now, the weather is kind of unpredicatable. Rainy. Mid summer is hot and busy. September is nice. Cool enough you don't sweat your *** off.

If you can, go during the middle of the week. Weekends are just too damn busy. Less traffic during the week. If I'm around there on the weekend, I won't ride the Dragon. I just sit at the store and look at all the bikes and BS with people.

Once you ride the gap, get the t-shirt and the dragon sticker for your bike. Then get a map and ride other roads around the area that IMHO are so much nicer.

I'm going to be in the area the last week of May. Going up the Sunday before Memorial Day. I don't stay anywhere near the Gap. I stay in North Ga. Suches area to be exact. The ZRXOA has a rally there a couple times a year. We usually get to the gap some days.

What part of NW Florida do you live? I live in SW Florida, in Fort Myers.

 

I live in Niceville up by Fort Walton Beach and Eglin AFB. Thanks for the info they were talking about going in late June or early July. I was thinking sometime earlier. My job is feast or famine style. During the famine part they are pretty flexible with letting me take time off, however you never know when the feast is coming.

We have about 20 of us that ride together all the time here and we are lookign for a trip to take.
