why do you hold in the clutch at 70 mph?? let your bike warm up before you start it dude, treat it how you would like to be treated haha
I usually wait for the engine to warm up, but sometimes I'm in a bit of a hurry. As for the clutching at 70... sometimes I do that to relax my throttle hand for a second or two; othertimes I do that if I hear a strange noise so that I can determine if it's the engine or drive train. I think it stalls because I drop off the throttle so quickly with no stress on the engine. If I roll off the throtttle slowly after clutching, it's fine.

Your idle is too low and or your clutch lever has too much play and there's still drag on the engine when you pull in your clutch lever. Your RPM at idle shoud be 1200.

My bike actually jumped to 3500 RPM when the problem with the throttle bodys started. Then about 3 min later dropped back down to normal. There is a VERY noticable sound change usally when you start your bike and the throttle body's are bad. All bikes experience differant problems from what I have heard and really the only common problem seems to be the sound when you start the bike!

Damn, that's too bad for the 05-06 throttle body problems. I have an 05 motor that I will be installing in my 03 and I guess I'll have the same stuff to deal with. I may need some help with the warrant replacement though because my bike is an 03. Any volunteers with an 05-06 willing to have them changed for me just in case I have those problems?

Can anyone describe this noise minus the engine being at 3500 rpm? I've noticed that whenever my bike jumps to 3k rpm @ start seems to be because I was impatient when turning the key and I hit the starter while the servo was still cycling.

As for my random power loss problem, I am now 99% sure it is simply water in the fuel. I went to fill up today and when I opened the tank neck, it was almost full to the brim with water around the neck. Took me a good 5 minutes just to soak all of it up with some paper towels. I'm thinking the reason for this water build might be a combination between overfilling my fuel tank and storing my bike in my apartment. When I'm done riding for the night, I drive right into the leaving room and park it there. I'm thinking the ambient temperature change is too rapid (bike is ~200deg, and air goes from 90deg to 70deg). I've also noticed that sometimes after I do that, about 10 minutes later, I hear a high-pitch pressure release from the tank that lasts about 10 seconds or so.

Keep in mind that Gasoline with ETHANOL Blend absorbs moisture from the air due to the ethanol and sits at the bottom of the tank where the fuel pick-up is. The Ethanol is a new problem especially for bikes because just a little bit of water and they don't want to run; so check the gas pump for the "Contains Ethanol" sticker and move on to another gas station or use "Heet" (Gas Dryer) when you fill up. You also lose performance with Ethanol.

I have noticed recently that my 636 will seem to flat spot on the throttle when ridding consistently at a RPM. i PARK MY BIKE ON A COVERED PORCH AND HAVE ALSO NOTICED WATER AROUND THE FILLER NECK. Isn't there suppose to be a drain hose for the water that gets around the fill neck?? I have to take my 636 in for service soon and I will mention this issue to the tech and see what he wants to do about it. Probably nothing but I will let you all know what the hell is going on. Hopefully just water in the gas. Speed where can I get the RXP from for the gas???
