stalling,loss of power
I have a 2003 Vulcan 500. Aprox 6 months after I bought it brand new with 1 mile on it, I began to having stalling, sputtering & loss of power problems, I took it to the nearby Kawa shop as it was under warranty, they replaced the "pitcock/fuel tap".It fixed the problem for about another 6months.since it was out of warranty by the time it started to do it again, I cannot afford to take it in and find out what is "really" wrong. There is good ,clean, high octane gas in it. It seems to do it more frequently when I have less than 2 gallons left in it,then i change it over to reserve. Anyone have any idea's? thanks

RE: stalling,loss of power
Buy a new fuel tap and replace it your self, I assume you mean the shut off. If it worked once maybe twice. Either way, parts can be purchased and put on yourself at a fraction of the cost that the shop will charge you.

sputtering loss of power
I too experienced this sputtering in fact last nite i almost got run over by a caged animal when it died totally. Thought it was bad gas. no. maybe bad carb? no, only had 200 miles, new from the dealer.
Took seat off, noticed the dealer had left the positive battery cable loose, had gotten really loose. Apparently the electronic ignition needs good battery connection. You know whats scarier than an animal in a cage pullin out in front of you? gotta be your shiny new Vulcan 500 crapping out on ya. at least a close second.
