Default Oil Leak please help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a zx600D. My bike was sitting all winter getting a little work here and there done but once i fired it up last week and let it run it ran great. After about 5 minutes of running i reved the engine a little bit and suddenly oil started spewing all over the ground dripping down the left side, Any ideas? Thank you

I would guess that a gasket let go. I have my su****ions on where, but need more specific info than "all over the ground" and "down the left side."

it seems to be coming from directly underneath the center of the bike, down the left side over the water pump and onto the kickstand, i havent cleaned the area out yet to check for certain but im pretty sure its almost the center of the bike under the air box

I'd probably check for the oil line tube (as on the other oil leak thread you posted to, with Calamari Chris and Prom photos.) If not an oil tube, clean the area and check gasket(s). I'm guessing there is a tube that "blew off" under rev-pressure. Shouldn't be anything too serious. Post up a pic or three if you're stumped and/or need more help. We'll track it down for you.

Edit: Any "repairs" we should be aware of? Sometimes guys leave out details that make a difference. "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you....."

yes, check the external oil cooler, the lines, the supply line to the head. Steel lines, banjo bolts, with rubber mid lines.

Jeff- what thread link were you referring to on the CC and prom photo's?

i did a little digging and found out that my air filter box is filling up with oil...it seems to be backing up from the engine itself...

dump the oil, oil filter and check the oil relief valve per your manual. The valve could be sticking.
