Default Lowering front end...

I'm looking to lower the front end of my bike to make it more level with the back end. I lost my service manual [:@] Do you have to screw the forks to lower them and if so do you have to take off the front wheel to do it? At first I thought I could just loosen the tree and slide them up 1/4-1/2" to lower the front but on my day off I investigated a little bit more and noticed it might be a little more complicated than that. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Lowering front end...

just loosen the pinch bolts on the upper and lower trees and they will slide up. measure the amount of fork tube sticking out the top of the upper tree and make sure thats its dead even. having the front up on a stand with the front wheel off makes it easier to spin the fork tube if need be but it can be done with the wheel on.
