idleing problems

RE: idleing problems
1. check your spark plugs
2. make sure all 4 are firing correctly
3. check fuel lines for clogs
4. check fuel pump(make sure it is giving the right psi 40ish but check your manual)
5. make sure your idle is set correctly
now does it start rough on cold starts??? (meaning when you first turn the bike on for the day)
does it steady out after awhile or does it take you to ride it for awhile to get rid of the roughness??? meaning when you idle it is rough...if you run it for awhile and come to a stop sign and let it idle is it still rough???

RE: idleing problems
make sure that nothing is obstructing or hindering the fuel and air from getting to the engine...check air filter, fuel lines, air box, etc....
i know this is alot of stuff to check but it could be any number of these things....ohh one other thing if you have ever run out of gas on your bike or you just bought it used or something might want to make sure that the fuel pump is working correctly and not failing under pressure...meaning it isn't giving off enough fuel line psi....
if you cannot check it you can have your local bike shop check it with a machine...

RE: idleing problems
Reach down and adjust the idle. Give it a half turn or so. If it's still running rough. Runn some injector cleaner through it. If it still does fix the problem then I would say take it to the shop.
