I've heard about that somewhere a while ago. But, you're right about not stopping a thief. If they take your bike, they'll just part it out.

 

That key with the chip is only on the European models called the Immobilizer. It involves a transmitter, a receiver, the key, an amplifier and programmed to the ECU. I just don't get why they didn't make it available on the US models. Maybe due to the additional price.

 

Damn next time I will have to go to Europe to buy my damn bike.

You want just the key? Try kawasaki Europe. Or even Ebay Europe to see if you can buy the whole setup.

 

tried bo6th, kawi europe wont send parts to the us and ebay europe doesnt have them . kawi US wont sell different country parts
