Helmet

RE: Helmet
Go to a shop and try helmets on. All of them. They all fit different. What's a large in one brand is not the same as a large in
another. Even different models in the same manuafacturer fit different. I have an Arai RX7 Corsair and it fits different than a Quantum or Vector on me. Different models for different shaped heads.
When you do find one that fits right, walk around the store for awhile with it on. Not a few minutes, a half an hour or more. Get the feel of it. What feels good when you first put it on may not feel good after an hour. You may feel stupid walking around with an helmet on in the store, but the people who work there will know what you are doing.
On the price side of things, Arai and Shoei are going cost you for a plain no graphics, in the $450-600 range. HJC in the $150 range. Scorpion is in the $150-200 range, but I don't know if they have any solids.
I know for the most part cost is a main consideration. If you think you have a $5 head, buy a $5 helmet.
I've had HJC's and like them. The Arai I have now is so much lighter. Not any quieter, but has better ventilation

Yep i went to one of the shops round here and tried on an hjc and shoei. i didnt care for any other brand. the dude was tryin to hustle me on shoei im sure he would get a nice commission from it. any way i was wearing a large and couldnt believe it was so big. i ended trying on a small and it fit wonderfully. so i just went online and ordered one.

nope the big names just have another consumer convinced that you need to spend big bucks to get the same level of protection... And to be honest I'm not all that impressed with the way suomy, arai, or shoei helmets are comfort wise...esp for 2-4x the price.... There isn't anything wrong with those helmets, or people buying them. I just personally don't like em and won't buy one... Hell most guys around here buy em to show off and be seen cruising parking lot to parking lot not wearing them and out riding...
