Left my helmet in the helmet lock and.......
I took a ride yesterday, got where I was going and put my helmet in the helmet lock.
I had to ride a few houses down from where I parked, and figured I was only going a
few hundred feet so I didn't put it on. When I stopped, I found out what that strange
grinding noise was.............

Oh man!! That sucks man. I noticed that once when I put it in the lock, that if I was to ride then it would rub on the tire. Try lacquer thinner to get off most of the marks, and maybe a new visor. Sorry Jack's dad.[&:]

At least it didn't get scuffed up due to an accident! Sucks, though - helmets are expensive. I bet Deej knows exactly what cleaner to use to take those marks and scuffs off.

The front air vent thingy is destroyed, and the helmet itself has had material removed by the tire.
Unfortunately, I think it's gonna have to be replaced. Aw heck, I was getting tired of silver any way.

Well if you decide to get another full face helmet check out the Scorpion helmets, I really like mine, but I also have the off road helmet as well. The Scorpion is also DOT and Snell rated

Thanks Deej, the Scorpion just might work for me......it's about half what I paid for the Shoei, and looks great too.
As for the open face MX-style helmet, no go for me. I've had a few bees in my helmets over the years and I HATE bees.

Jack's Dad,
While my helmet did not turn out like yours, I was unpleasantly surprised by my helmet that was sitting in the helmet lock of my bike.
I was outside teaching an MSF course. We had a little bit of a shower come through. I thought nothing of it until I put that wet, clammy thing on my dry head.
Not fun!
Beware of helmet locks!

Jack's Dad, sorry about your helmet man. I took my helmet lock off a while back. My helmet didn't really fit well on it any way. Here recently I've started using a short bicycle cable to secure mine to the bike. I just hang it on the right mirror and run the cable through and lock it to the crossbar. Works well and helps keep the rain out too.
