I have a Shark S500 Air - I really like it. They too also faired well in the helmet test. Shark Helmets
I also considered getting an HJC, I really liked the graphics on them and the price was good, but I had a real hard time finding one that fit right. You really ought to go somewhere and try a whole bunch on, each brand and model fit different. The Icon helmets didn't fit me.

RE: Helmet
I went to my local bike store and spent a good hour with one of the nice and helpful service ladies trying on a ton of different helmets. It's very true that each make/model of helmet fits differently, and you should try a bunch to see what fits your noggin best. If the person in the store is knowledgable, it'll help a great deal. Only reason it took me so long is I was a bit undecided. My skull is right on the border between typical M and L sizes, so unfortunately it made the choice that much harder. I ended up getting a great looking Arai for $412 AFTER tax. It was a discontinued "graphic" so it was on sale (original price: $550), and I had a 15% off any helmet coupon for this particular store from the MSF course. Damn this thing is comfy. I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it hadn't been on sale.

It's true all the helmets listed above are great helmets... and it's true about testing out each brand because the sizes are different.
I personally own two HJC helmets.. I got my solid cl14 for $70. On Sale, couldn't let that pass and my bike came with a HJC helmet that matches the bike.
My freinds all have differents brands, as long as the DOT and but not necessary the SNAL sticker on it. The DOT obviously is the most important.

RE: Helmet
My husband has a Scorpion and absolutely loves it. I am actually leaning towards a Shark, but haven't made up my mind yet. Right now, I have a generic one I got from J.C. Whitney, but I like it. Solid black, clear face shield, nothing special, but it's comfy.
