First Ride
I did it! I took my first ride out on the streets yesterday. My buddy led me on about a three hour trip with frequent stops for advice. I got passed a little more then I would like to admit but I knew too keep it calm and learn the bike first. NO REGRETS about this bike. I am hooked for life!
That is outstanding. Congratulations. I still remember my first ride like it was yesterday. You are wise to take your time learning the bike, without being worried about other people passing you. I still say you should take the MSF course though. Even though I've already taken it, and I've been riding for over 20 years, I'm still going to go out to parking lot the MSF has set up for their course and practice when I get home and get my new bike. You really can't go wrong by taking the course. All it will do is help you. But, in the mean time, ride it until the wheels fall off! I know the addiction. I'm fiending for it like crazy.
Agree with Rocket 100%; savor these moments, because events that give us that "passion" become few and far between as we get older. There's nothing (and I mean nothing) like a good ride on a bike to make us feel like a kid again, if only for a little while....
