Default dot 4 vs. dot 5

I should be picking up my 02 ZX6R tomorrow. The owner is not sure what brake fluid the shop has used on his brake fluid changes. Is there a visual difference between dot 4 and the silicone dot 5? I've got to pick up something for top-offs.

Thanks.

Dot 5 is purple and try not to mix the two. Make sure to completely flush the system.

unless you are boiling the fluid do not switch to dot 5 - way to many problems with silicon based fluid that for many people has resulted in having to have a complete brake system overhaul replacing calipers etc.
