My wheels were a machined finish with a clearcoat...I started with 400 grit 3M fast sand, then wetsanded with 600, then with 800, then used 00 steel wool. Then used busch aluminum polish to bring out the shine. It almost looks chrome...I think if I used a finer sandpaper then the really fine steel wool, then re polish, they should shine like chrome..

I had some pitting in the surface of the wheels, and that's what took the longest to get out....expecially without taking the wheels off..
