06 636 immobilizer/starter lockout switch
Ok, so I'm curious what these two wires are in the front end of my 06 636. A light-blue wire and a red/green wire going into a terminated connector. It is located inside the right fairing near the turnsignal connector coming right off of the main wiring harness. According to the wiring diagram, the R/G wire goes to a "Starter Lockout Switch" (located in the left handlebar switch housing). The light-blue wire goes into the "Immobilizer / Kawasaki Self-diagnostic System Connector". So what the hell are these two things? Thanks

Ok, I've discovered that this connector has something to do with programmable keys (ie the correct key with the correct computer chip inside). I know my car has keys like this, but I did not know the bike has a system in place as well. I assume that the European version or older models have this active. Apparently when the key is removed, the FI light blinks to indicate the system is operational. Now how would I go about making this system work on my bike?

RE: 06 636 immobilizer/starter lockout switch
Ok, so after working through Kawasaki's Customer Service Department, I discovered that European model of the 636 has a starter lockout and immobilizer built in. Seeing as the wiring these devices exists on the US model and that kawasaki does not have a separate production line for US and Euro models, I'm willing to bet there is a way to enable these security features on the US model.
I'm willing to bet that if I cross these two wires, it will enable the lockout and immobilizer... either that or it will short out my ECU, lol. I'm going to take a closer look at the wiring diagram when I get home from work to determine how bad this could be for the ECU. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Yeah, I decided the other day that I am just not goes to mess these wires until I know exactly what I am doing with them. Don't want to lock myself out of my own bike, lol.
