K i must be confused. I thought the speed sensor was near the clutch lever on the handlebar but I guess I was wrong... whoops.
edit: yeah i hate being a noob, booo, i'll have a looksy at it tomorrow and see if any wires are loose and then just go pick one up from the dealership, they want around 100 bucks for it.

fawkkk, looks like i fkd up, unbolted it, took it out just to see what it was, put it back in, and then the bolt broke off in the sprocket cover b/c i tightened it too tight whoooooooops
edit: drilled it out, gonna pick up a new one as soon as the sensor comes in at the dealership.

tried a new speed sensor and it didn't change anything.. checked the volt ratings on the batter to make sure everything is okay power wise and it is. battery charges fine also. i'm thinking it must be a faulty cluster.

Check the connector on the back of the instrument panel to make sure it's clipped on. could be a bad connection. How did the connector look at the sensor?

connection on the sensor looked great, no rust or loose wires. to check the connector on the back of the instrument panel i'm guessing you'd have to remove the whole front fairing right? regardless, i'm waiting on someones response to see if they can give me their cluster, if not, i'll buy one from ebay.. we'll see.

I just re-read your original post again and it sound like there is a short on the speedo circuit board. Was it disassembled for LED light change or anything. Maybe it was damaged during a crash. You may be able to take it apart and fix it if you can find the short or send it to me an I can take a look & repair it.
