installed new Akrapovic slip on and bike is almost back firing when off throttle?
I have a 2008 ZX10 with 1000 miles. I just installed a Akrapovic slip-on muffler. The slip-on doesn't make use of the exhaust valve and I followed the instructions which told me to remove the cables along with the factory pipe. There is no FI light coming on and the bike runs and sounds great. I noticed the light popping sound when I removed the db insert on the muffler. I haven't done anything else to the bike and was wanting to know if I should install a power programmer to help with the popping? I also have ordered the Akro mid pipe to lose the catalytic converter and to reduce weight. I was wanting to see what people have done to their bikes and what is my options. I just purchased this bike and could of got the 2011 ZX10R but when test riding the 2011 I didn't like the feel of it compared to the 2008. The 2008 seemed to be more of a monster between the two. Even if the 2008 looks like it is cross eyed. It is growing on me. I currently live in Europe so this bike will be going as fast as possible. I would appreciate anyone's suggestions .

hahaha on the cross eyed comment. My thoughts exactly during that time.
by altering the air/fuel, the popping is going to happen and will be adjusted out by using an air/fuel adjustment tool like the "power programmer" you mentioned. I do not have the 08, but after tuning my 06 with a power commander, less popping along with better rideablility on the track made it a good option.
Good luck on your quest and congrats with your new ride.

hmm, let me know on that one. I have heard different results so far. why I am still with the khi race ecu and the pc. Sorry for a no answer to your quest, I have not played with anything other than what I run at the moment. And "hear say" is just that.

Well got my hole welded with titanium rod this time. It doesn't look pretty but my buddy did it for free. Programmed the pciii when I got home with the map online from their website for the two brothers slip on and stock or aftermarket air filter and wow it woke the bike up big time. Much much better throttle response and no popping at all even when downshifting or shifting at redline. Bike sounds awesome and runs amazing now. Definitely recommend you getting one and they had a map for your exhaust as well. 58 cycle has them for 270.
