Default Exhaust Question?

So I have a 2009 fuel injected 650r, and I just put on a two brothers slip on. I was told by some cycle places that I need to have it tuned or I can screw up my bike. But then I looked online and said that it was not neccessary.

So im confused and wanted to see what you guys thought?

Thanks

It's a slip-on. Don't worry, you won't harm anything.

If you get a lot of popping on the overrun you may need to plug the pair valves. To get the best from the slip on, assuming a US spec bike, you need a PClll and custom map, but most people won't notice the difference.

Pretty negligable performance for the price I would think. Better get some more cash out if you want the new gal to zing and set up for your riding.

I was under the impression that the computer would automatically figure out the fuel mapping once the slip on exhaust it attached........Anyone disagree?

Not sure about the 09 bike, but the earlier ones used a closed loop system with a fixed map and no monitoring of the exhaust gasses to correct fuelling errors.

EU models have an open loop system with a different ecu using an exhaust lambda probe to ensure accurate fuelling.

Although the manufacturers published figures are the same, magazine tests seem to show an extra couple of bhp at the wheel for EU over US bikes.

So for US bikes from 06 - 08, I disagree, and I think I disagree for the 09 US bike.
