need maintenance help
Cleaning the carbs on the bike is worthless. You have to get the pilot and main jets out. I use about 6-8 big cans of carb cleaner to. Spray all the little holes in the intakes and through where the jets were.
I also run thin wire through the pilot jets to make sure there a nothing in them. Use a piece of speaker wire and just unravel the wire to make it smaller.
The gaskets will be on the float bowls and if you are careful you can use them again. If the break one you need to get new ones, I do not like gasket sealer for these, I do not want gas leaking out on my hot exhaust.
Be careful with the rubber boots above the needles, if you tear one of them theredone. Be sure to spray the hell out of everything, to make sure, once you think you have sprayed it enough use one more can.
It would be nice to get them synced afterwards as well. The shop normally charges 75-80 bucks for this, you can do it yourself but you need a carb sync tool and there about 100.00.
Its not that hard though, should take about 4 hours if it is your first time, give or take a little bit depending on how many cold ones you suck down.
Good Luck
