I was looking on craigslist and i found an 88 500 but it needs a gas tank what years and models would fit a 500 Thanks guys

 

Any pre-94 tank should work. It might take awhile, as the pre-94 bikes are becoming rarer, but one may eventually come up on Ebay. Because of the age (it is a 20-year-old bike, afterall) and rarity, that may be the owner is selling the bike cheaply.
Check Ebay, maybe you'll get lucky.

keep an eye on ebay and try calling / emailing some motorcycle salvage places - i lucked out and got a tank for my 95zx6r for only 50$

WTF is this with people saying that only pre 94 tanks will fit a gen 1 bike???

tanks from all years will fit the bike. california model tanks will have a bunch of useless hose BS. just get a non-ca tank.
