Garmin Zumo 550 - hook up to main battery?
I hate getting lost so I shelled out today on a Garmin Zumo 550. Is hooking it up to the main battery of the 500 something I can do? The manual says it should be done by a professional.
If the manual says one thing and you choose not to do that, you're probably letting Garmin off the hook on the warranty.
Take it to a pro, IMO.

My thoughts exactly; thought I'd throw the question out there to see if anyone had done it themselves. If the garage can't do it I'll contact an authorized Garmin reseller.
Sweet! Look what I just found for my Garmin E-trex. I mean after all why not just wire in a 12 v plug so you can charge anything?

Hmmm here is the cable for your device, I would do it myself. But that's just me.

You're right - found out about the positive/negative accessory port on the battery today from one phone call to my favorite mechanic. As lazy as I am I'm doing it myself tomorrow - now where to put that wire so it doesn't look so DIY. I think the disclaimer just covers up a kickback.
Now I can hit 85 mph on the Belt Parkway again like I did last night and find an ATM at the same time!
