first to second gear woes a few questions
Hello folks I'm a new poster I wandered in from the EX500 riders forum hope you dont mind that I have a 1990. Anyway I got on the bike hard up a hill at like 10,000 RPM had missed a shift to second, from first .I never drive the bike hard, normally and do not go over 60 MPH, But I'm afraid I have exposed a weakness in the Tranny. Since then anytime above 5000 or so it makes a bang noise that I can feel sometimes its a bit subtle and its perfect at low RPM's. Regardless of sound the shift is positive, it never pops out of gear either.
Is it possible that there is a problem with the shift mechanism ? I'd want to know this before I get started on the engine removal. If so how can I check it. I doubt this is the case but I want to be sure, cause the bike has low miles and runs great otherwise.
Are there any good links to removing the motor, I have the clymer but it tells me to remove the head cylinders etc. which I dont want to do. I did find this from our good friend FOG 500 R any advice is welcome here.
Anyother advice is welcome thanks.
Thanks
PS im pretty sure the apre 94's had wandering gear issuses so I suspect a tranny failure beginning
