more than likely your slider gear on your main shaft is worn and letting it slip back down or its a worn drums, either way and no matter what ur splitting the cases good luck keep me posted, when i got to school tommrow ill ask a K-tech teacher just to make sure

that or your not getting it into gear all the way. had that happen a few times on my 9. turns out i needed to lower the shifter so i could engage it with less effort. all good. keep us posted on whats up.

Riding hard and shifting into second at 3,500 rpm? There's your problem. Try riding hard and shifting into second gear at 12,000 rpm. Sorry, just my 2c.

shift detent failure/seazure usually occurs when the shaft gets so hot that the bearing on the end of it welds itself to the shaft and causes the tranny to lock up and you wouldnt be able to move the lever at all. plus this is usually common on yamahas. looking at some microphish and going off of memory, id have to agree on shifting at a low rpm. could also be the chain is not adjusted right causing it and second gear is catching brunt of it. weird that its only 2nd everything else is fine so im sticking to your not getting it in gear/halfing it so its popping out. that there is a common problem.

im pretty sure im in second all the way if i put in second gear and i can drive in second as long as the rpms are under 3000 or so but if i try to accelerate over 3000 to 3500 it will slip out i think i will just pull the case and check my shaft i realy just don't want to take it to kawasaki as they quoted me at least 1200 for labor and parts if it happens to be the shaft but said he would not know what it was untill he started working on it i will keep everyone posted on what i find.

once in second gear i can not go over 3500 max before slipping out i have to go straight to third when i shift from first to second at 10000 when i let off the clutch it goes untill i try to accelerate i can decelerate second gear tho just fine only on acceleration does it slip
