Broken Wheel Lock?!?!

Broken Wheel Lock?!?!
So somehow my wheel lock broke - you know the thing that locks the wheel to the left before you can take the key out on lock. How do i see where it broke and what do i do to repair it?!?! Anyone?

RE: Broken Wheel Lock?!?!
Broken? I've never heard of that happening on any bike before. What happens when you try to employ it?
Have you tried pushing the key down while turning it to the lock position AND moving the handlebars slightly back toward the right a few degrees?
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Peace!

RE: Broken Wheel Lock?!?!
they arent very strong at all. there is security footage on youtube of ppl stealing bikes. one guy puts his foot on one bar, hand on the other and pushes with his foot, pulls with his hand, and it pops in about 3 seconds. also, ive talked to ppl here in town who had theirs stolen in similar fashion.
the lock is on the steering head... i thought i had a pic but i cant find it. ill take one after my batteries charge.

pictars
look here
thats where the lock is. to get a better idea of how it works, id suggest looking in there, turning the handlebars straight (so it wont lock) and then turning the key to lock and back so you can see where the bolt comes out and where it locks into.
its sort of sticking out in that photo, you can barely see a little silver thing above my finger. thats it. it locks into a little metal box on the steering head.

RE: Broken Wheel Lock?!?!
If I'd bought a used bike with a broken steering lock, I would report it to the police, tell them the engine and frame serial numbers and make sure you didn't buy a stolen bike.
