Default Problems with new bike!!!

I bought a ninja ex 250 special edition metalic black 2012 version.

I am having issues with this bike and i need help.

1st : the fuel guage , showed half way when i picked it up at the dealership. While i was riding home i drove for about lets say 15 min and the bar went to EMPTY... Next day i went to fill up the tank , it only took 4 L to fill up. Once i started my ninja , the bar only went HALF WAY up , it never goes up to FULL.

2nd problem : for some reason they told me its new so i have to keep it to 4 rpm for the break in period , There is no way this is possible for me.....

First i dont feel like there is 6 gears , i cant shift up on the 4th or 5th gear max it wont shift up nomore for some reason. And at like 6 rpm im only at 50-60 km per hour. I am 230lb , so im a bit heavy but still why is it this slow?

3rd problem : It keeps turning off from 1st gear while im stopping to move. I am holding the clutch + throttle and timing it ok but it keeps happening. How can i lose up the clutch , it seems like its so TIGHT i really have to squeeze it.

Can someone help me with these thank you.

Welcome, denied. (Wait....that didn't sound right.)
Did you buy the bike that was parked behind the shop that had the dust all over it?
Agree with Mav; take it back to the dealer and see if there are any spare parts left under the tarp.....
Seriously, it sounds like a great-looking ride. Post up some pics!! Let us know if the dealer gets you moving again.

**Duh; just clicked on the photo link. Looks great! (Yes; just kidding about the tarp.....)

hey guys, i took it to the dealership today and here is the scenarios :

1 : for the fuel , he said its not like a car , you cant just leave the handle bar in until it automatically stops. You have to fill it up your self and look inside the tank until it fills up , that being said i wont make it over filled and leave some space out.

2: for the RPM thing , he took the keys from me and he said he will test it . He took it out for a ride and tested all gears. He said its a 250 , on the highest gear which is the 6th one , i should go around 40-50 km on 4000 rpm. He said that manual says 4000 but thats way too low for the streets . He said i can go up to 6000 RPM on each gear , just for the first 1000 km , no passengers and also Vary the speed. So i got the bike from him and @ 6000 it seems ok i can do about 60 km/H. Bike is good as days go by im getting more confident , i just hope noone steals it . I tie it down to a pole in my parking ( i live in apt) , with a lock but no other protection. Outside , when i go the gym or shopping i dont lock it , i just wheel lock it with the key and leave it . Hopefully noone will steal it. Worse case scenario i have insurance on it , I dont want to go threw the hustle of INSURANCE if its stolen , but whats done is done ( dont wanna think that far now ). But Im praying noone steals it .

Other than that not too many complains , except the insurance rate is high and also its a bit slow. He told me after the first 1000 km , i can drive it like a champ its only the first 1000 km that i have to be careful. However , i dont go anywhere... I live in toronto and i can only ride it for like 4-5 months , and i only go to like gym and thats it , or somewhere close by. I have no idea how to put 1000 km on it. That will be like 2 years or summers for me lol.

Welcome to KF.

Sounds like your mechanic is knowledgeable. But I prefer my own break ins which slightly differ than KHI. Congrats on the new ride. I have an 07 model.

Thank you sir , can you guys provide me with some correct or i should say diff ways of the BREAK IN thing? i really wanna keep this bike and dont want it to go bad , that being said i cant go 45 km / h thats like 25-30 mph which you cant even go on the streets with if you keep it at 4000 max rpm top gear.

vary your rpm between the gears, do not over lug the engine, but vary the rpms from 4k to 10k for the first 50 miles possibly. Change the oil and filter with your choice of quality oil and filter, then run the bike "like you stole it". That is how I normally break in a ride.
