Default Vintage bike = new problems?

Hey guys.

First post. First Bike.

Just bought it this summer from my karate teacher you got it from a neighbor. I was working on the deal, and actually, my wife surprised me with it on fathers day.

1979 Kawasaki kz650. 14k, all original paint, etc.
Extra gas tank in the original box, and original pipes in great condition.

Any of you guys owned or know about this model? I have a 'small' gas leak which empties 4 gallons in less then 2 days from the gas intake compression valve.
Seems to me there should be some sort of C-ring gasket that is missing, but I looked in the manual and a parts catalog on line and can't find a diagram showing it.

Thanks in advance guys.

Oh yeah, I live in Minnesota.

You have any part numbers? I am not sure on what a "gas intake compression valve" is.

You know, if I had a part number I would have it ordered already.

I did check out the diagrams online. There are many sites using the same program to show diagrams and order parts. For some reason, it doesn't even show the 'back' part of it, or this particular item as far as I can tell.

Here it is:

I guess I'd have to show you where, but it's not even on there and I don't know why.

Well, hope someone can help...

Welcome to the forums, WOW!!! That bike is DA BOMB!!!! That's it, I'm gonna start looking for one like it, I mean it looks like the new bikes called scramblers, but I'm sure not as expensive. That bike is mint, I get it in your will right?

Hey thanks.

Yeah those scramblers seem to bring a bit of the 60's and 70's with a mix of a modern touch to it, eh?

Still like mine better. It's not 'like' the original, it is!

I appreciate it more and more everyday.
