Cool Draining fuel on Carburetors Bowls ? Ninja 250r 2006

Does anyone know what position the Fuel Petcock should be when draining the fuel from the (2) lower Carburetor Fuel Drains? I think the manual says PRI. But the 2006 250 only has OFF - ON and RES.

Thanks in advance. . . .

Turn it to OFF, otherwise it will pour gas out. If you are draining for long term storage that will be it. If draining to get old gas out then after drained and screws closed - gently, not cranked tight, it will ruin the seat - turn gas back on to get fresh from tank into carbs.

If your bike ever sits for more than around 3 weeks you should drain the carb float bowls. The gas these days is so bad it breaks down fast. My 650 single is bad in about 7 days, have to crank like crazy to fire and it may not fire. Drain the gas, get fresh from the tank and it fires up as if it was run yesterday. The 250 single is a bit more tolerant at around 14 days before being pretty bad.

If draining one that has ON, RES, PRI you want it in either ON or RES when draining, otherwise gas will continue to run out. These are vacuum petcocks and closed when the bike is not running if in the ON or RES positions.
