Default Bogus wreck estimate

well as you guys probably know i had a spill on my 08 ninja and since then have taken it to the dealer. They did a wreckestimate and i got a copy of it to look over. I was stunned that they added as manyitems to be replacedas they possibly could. Some of those parts just have scratches, small ones, why replace them if you dont really have to? Well the insurance decided to total my bike so i was just thinking of buying it from them and replacing what's really necessary. Keep in mind that its all cosmetic damage. the dealer found no damage to the majorcomponents of the bike to it still runs and all. I know the resale value will be pretty low but i just want to ride my bike.

More power to ya. from what i hear they total bikes pretty easily so i don't know many people that have problems buying or selling a salvage title bike if it rides strait.

if just cosmetic then heck yea keep it unless you can get another new one out of the deal. idk how your insurance is.

good luck tho and ride safe!! also welcome to the madness of KF btw

Replacement body parts on bikes are very outrageous. I could see an insurance company totaling it.

lol tell me about it. i found a website where i can get OEM parts a few bucks cheaper compared to getting it through the dealer. at least now i wont have to worry about full coverage lol. The estimate for the repair was 3856! So my insurance is taking the easy way out.Of course its always the bike owner that gets screwed up in the end. I can't wait to ride my little ninja again!!!

I have noticed that replacement fairing pieces are WAY pricey. But damn...aren't you within a couple hundred $$ from MSRP? (Is it a 250?) Wow. Sorry about your bike.

yeah its a 250, only had it for a month. can't believe i already totaled it. i talked to a couple of ppl from my insurance company and they said that it would prob b better if i take the money and that they usually dont let the owner buy his bike back "due to liability," but they can make exeptions. what does everyone else think. should i take the money and run or try to fix up my bike. here is a link to some pics of my bike's current condition. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_272415/tm.htm

if you are a fairly new rider i'd consider buying it back but that depends on how much they want for it. you may be better off just getting a new one.
