advise me on the 250r
Hi all, I'm pretty new to riding bikes and am planning to buy my first bike soon. My friend has a 06 600 cbr and it seems to be a bit big for me (height and weight). Is the 08 ninja 250r smaller then the 600 cbr?
Thanks for your help
Thanks for your help
The 250R will be more agile, and easier to handle since it weighs less, but the best way to know whether or not the bike fits is to just sit on it yourself. One bike may have a slightly shorter seat, but if the seat is wide, it may be harder to keep both feet on the ground than the taller, narrower seat.
The biggest thing is the 250R weighs less, also im willing to be the seat hight is a little lower. Best thing to do is go to a shop that stocks allot of different bikes. That way you can throw a leg over lots of bikes in rapid sucession to find what fits you best. I will say this though, too many people get caught up in the bigger bikes. Unless you have ridden before stick to something thats a twin and 500ccs or less. All around your experience will most likely be better...
1+ on the bigger is "always" better myth.
I have heard many older, more experienced riders who started off small, thought they needed to buy a large bike, only to go back again when they realized the smaller bikes were more enjoyable.

the 250 will have a SLIGHTLY lower seat. the bike itself isnt much smaller, but it is a bit more narrow. the gas tank has a much smaller appearance because the engine takes up less space and the airbox is under the seat, allowing the fuel to be carried much lower. It does weigh conciderably less and will be much more agile. The biggest factors you need to concider are overall cost (the 250 cost less than half as much as the CBR) and your ability to restrain yourself from taking advantage of the huge power difference and driving like an idiot.
Thanks alot for all your help. It sounds like the 250r is just right for me expecially with the lower price. The reason why I posted this and havent gone to the local dealer is that they dont got any in stock and I was planning to buy one on Ebay.
