Default Newbie with questions

Hey guys!
New here from Minnesota. Been lerking around reading and finally decided to join. I have been around drit bikes all my life and decided its time for a sport bike. I really like the Ninja ZX-6.
Im looking to get the 600 because Im only 5'11", 145 lbs, so its plenty for me.
Does anyone have any tips/comments? Better suggestion for a starter bike? What kind of things should I look for and ask when looking at a bike? I was thinking about an early 90's since I only want to spend about 2K for a starter (and Im a college student ) What is high milage for a sport bike, as I have only had drit bikes and there is no odometer! Anyone know of any bikes for sale around my area, I have looked at the local paper and a trader, but nothing really.
Any input would be greatly appreciated

welcome to the forum. if 2k is all you could spend, then you might be looking at a fixer upper. at this point any bike in the price range will do. the only thing i could say is try to fine one that you don't have to do much to. and one that hasn't been dropped or dropped hard. the frame is the big thing. if the engine runs and doesn't over heat everything else is fixable. oh, of course the brakes has to work. good luck post some pics when you get it.

I found a 1990 ZX-6 with 23,000 miles for $1950. It is owned by a machanic and has never been dropped. Runs great.
I can actually spend $3K.....Im just trying to get my feet wet, I only have a year left of school and then I will have a steady job and be able to spend more

Glad to hear that you found a bike in your price range! Keep the extra cash you have to buy some good gear! Keep us posted and put up some pics when you buy one!
