Your pilot jet or idle circuit is clogged with crud. No gas flow = no idle. You are running on the choke circuit only. Chances are you may have to pull the carb(s) and try to clean out the idle mix circuit and pilot jet. It is hard to get down in the idle circuit passages and may take having the carb washed by some shop to get solvent in and clean it. But worth a try. If you are lucky you may find the pilot jet is just blocked and that cleaning it will solve the problem. I hope you are that fortunate.

Thanks I’ll give it a new carb kit and a solvent bath before and see what happens

Don't need a kit. Motorcycles are different from cars. The gaskets are neoprene and reuseable. I've never bought a rebuild kit, only buying jets I needed. When we cleaned carbs at the dealership they never used any kits, just disassembly, clean, reassembly. Save some money
