Default first post: 07 KLX 250s 351 BB kit just installed

I'm just going to start here as my first post on the forum. I'm new to this. I'm in Victoria BC, an old guy who really enjoys this bike and intend to keep it and keep improving as I can afford. I wanted to just dive right into the discussion about the Mikuni carb upgrades for my bike but want to be sure I'm following protocol!

At the moment I'm a bit on the fence about the results of the BB 351 kit but it may be jetting on the CVK (only changed the Main jet as per Bill Blue's recommendation) or, most likely, that the MIkuni pumper is the solution. Bill Blue will rebuild the TM33 for $95 but can't find any under $200. The TM34s are available for under $80 but Bill is not familiar with the 34. And others say the 36 just slaps right on with no mods. I have the usual mods done on the CVK carb as well as an FMF Power Core.

Welcome. I (and others here) have the TM36-68. It does slap right on, but will require jets that likely don't come with the carb. If you're running the Acerbis tank, it will require a little modification. Congrats on the 351 kit...but what are you on the fence about? Are you running the stock silencer?

Thanks. I am "on the fence" about whether I'm happy so far with the results. I have an FMF Power Core and changed the jets from 128 to 130. I've just read that it should have been 132 and do have that one from the old Dynojet kit so will try to install today. May also try to get a bigger pilot.

Got the word yesterday from the horse's mouth, Mr Blue himself. Re my confusion about the TM34: It's only a TM33 that Bill works with, then converts it to a 34mm. That's why it's sometimes called a TM34. The Mikuni TM34 is actually a non-pumper carb. He said the TM36 does work, but gas mileage is very poor. Bill says 50 mpg vs around 70 to 75 with the rebuilt TM33. So it seems a no-brainer to get a 33 and have him do the conversion. I'm not willing to sacrifice the range (and gas mileage) for power. I don't have an Acerbis tank.
