Default Klx 351 jetting

What's going every one ,I know this has been a well talked about conversation but save me the hassle of hrs of carb removal many times and let me know what jets to use please I have
fmf power core 4 slip on
hiflo air filter
no snorkel
351 bill blue big bore
smog removed
prior to the 351 kit I upgraded to a dj jet kit
was running with stock 250cc 128dj main stock pilot at 2.5 turns dj needle ,dj spring
after I install the 351 I changed to a 132 dj and drill the pilot to a 40 didn' work out so well bike would run very rich so I got a 38 for pilot should be better waiting on my head to come back from bill my coolant ports were to close to cylinder ! So my question is what have u people ran for dj jets Iam riding between 100 to 2000 ft sea level

I think Bill recommends two up on the main and one up on the pilot.
This should be posted in the klx250 section and page klxster.

Default Jetting 351

Yes he did tell me that that's what stock Jets one on pilot two on Main but I'm running a Dynojet kit Bill told me that the Dynojet needle is no good and to go back with the stock needle and shim the needle would two washers at .012 each I'm just trying to see what everybody else has done and has proven to work well

Wow, that's interesting on the stock needle. I'd venture to guess a lot of us, maybe the majority, who have went 351 and kept the stock carb have put in a dynojet kit. I certainly did.

Default Re dynojet

Iam sry about my typos fat finger moments on the galaxy lol , I just re-read what I wrote and wow lmao, yeah Iam just trying to get the most bang out of the cv carb I really don' wanna spend the 400 for a tm and all it yields is maybe 1 hp different the pumper is more for elevation changes Iam not worried about that. What is ur settings in ur dj kit needle ,jets both pilot and main and how many turns on the pilot screw

There's a jetting spreadsheet linked in the FAQ's (see my sig line).
I'm running a pumper new, but with stock carb I had I think a 128 DJ main and stock 35 pilot with clip in the needle center position. Fuel screw about 2.5 turns out. But I'm at 3000 ft +/-.
I think klxster would recommend the clip on the 1st or 2nd notch and a much larger main jet. Check into his jetting threads.

A pumper doesn't add any hp. It does improve response as the cvk type carbs respond slower by design.

Default The good comes with bad but ends well

So after spending hours with nothing but carb issues and jetting on the 351 with stock cv carb I think I found the perfect set up 583ft above sealevel
38 pilot
2 3/8 turn on air screw
132.5 kiehin main jet
dyno jet spring
dyno jet needle 3 notch
hiflo filter
no air box lid
the bad the clutch slips and I've never had synthetic oil so got a set or Barnett spring coming 38lb switching every other one the bike pulls like a mule u belivable power

Good to hear you're getting it worked out.

It may be that I'm a bit OCD or something, the the "air screw" on our CV carb is actually a "fuel screw" . Clockwise (in) slows fuel flow and makes it leaner.

My 2-stroke KDX with PWK carb has an air screw. In = less air = richer.

Default Hoping for guidance re carb for 351 BB

I'm going to try here first just in case you guys can give me some advice. I'm getting a bit lost trying to track this on other threads that are mostly quite old. At the moment I'm a bit on the fence about the results of the BB 351 kit that I just installed at the local MC coop, but it may be jetting on the CVK (only changed the Main jet as per Bill Blue's recommendation) or, most likely, that the MIkuni pumper is the solution. Bill Blue will rebuild the TM33 for $95 but can't find any under $200. The TM34s are available for under $80 but Bill is not familiar with the 34. And others say the 36 just slaps right on with no mods. I have the usual mods done on the CVK carb as well as an FMF Power Core. I'm at sea level here on the west coast. As per Bill's recommendation, I went from 128 to 130 on the main, but nothing so far on the pilot. The gas mileage was very poor having just gone through the first tank after the install: down over 20%. Perhaps the larger main and pilot will help significantly??
