hey guys,

Im new to this forum i own a 2006 kx450f.

I recently blew the engine just the top end. I was taking the engine out of the bike to rebuild it and i dropped the engine on the cement floor....i know i feel stupid i don't need to be reminded lol so now both the main cases are cracked and missing pieces....there NFG. so now its going to be a expensive rebuild, ive priced everything and its about 2000$ when you include shipped and taxes and all that. So i started thinking maybe just buying a new engine is cheaper which it is i found one for 1600 plus shipping which i was going to do untill someone else bought it now i cant find anymore anywhere.... Now my question is can i put a 07 08 09 engine in the same frame? will it work? without many modifications? i know the 06 is a 4 speed and the rest are 5 speed but i don't think that makes much of a difference, because those are the only engines i can find now that are intact and ready to go.
