Default 1993 KX250 Ignition System Question

I am new to this forum and hoping I can tap the expertise of some of the KX members out there. Just finished a restore on an old 1993 KX250. Starting has been a real issue so I am going through the bike to recheck everything. One concern is the "air gap" setting between the flywheel and pick-up coil. The manual does not specify any setting from Kawasaki so I don't know if this is critical or not? I have searched around numerous forums and found little info. One setting I found for an 03 model was 0.025-0.026". Can anyone offer me some input on the correct setting?

The oem have no adjustment. You have strong spark? Jetting? Do you have an exhaust?
