Does anyone know how to get around this?

My KLX140L will only start if it's in neutral. It doesn't matter if the kickstand is up or the clutch is in, it just won't do anything til you put it in neutral, which frankly can be a pain sometimes to find out in the woods.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

 

My KLR did this.
It was a stuck clutch safety switch.

 

I tried that, seems fine. Do I just arch the wires across to close the circuit and try that to rule it out?

Something like that...
I pulled the safety switch from the KLX clutch and repaired the one on the KLR.
I don't recall if the switch needs to be open (disconnected) or closed (connected) for it to work. Try both, do some research, or ... from what I recall just looking at the switches when I was in there made it obvious.
