Default Thanks guys!

I ordered the EJK tuner.

Is there something you suggest for the airbox?

should I drill holes on the top of it?

I see some guys have removed or cut the snorkel. Any tips?
As of now it’s stock with the snorkel and I have the yosh rs-2 pipe which will Soon be improved with the fi tuner installed. Thanks guys!

Destroying KLX components with drills is a really bad habit to have - try alcoholism instead..

Except for one operation - which has unverified results - never get a drill bit near a KLX..Or at least let us laugh at your reasons for doing so..

In this case, the EJK has settings for all airbox configurations - lidless, lid sans snorkel, lid and snorkel - drilling holes in the airbox creates a bastardized mix of two of those modes which the EJK has no setup for...

Yank off the lid (and snorkel), set the EJK for " lid removed", and enjoy max performance - or settle for less with the lid on, snorkel or not...

Thank you for the great advice. I appreciate it all. I will NOT use a drill EVER, on the precious KLX.
I will be removing the lid.
Im gonna pass on the alcoholism though. 😂

Last question,
With the lid removed, should i worry about water? I won’t be riding in rivers. some dusty trails occasionally.
Does klx add the lid for protection or for restriction?
Thanks again for your time and wisdom.

No worries about water. Normal operations are not a problem. Any "accident" that puts water over the side of the open airbox would certainly not be stopped by the snorkel either. Notice the sidepanels, seat, and the rear fender seal protect the top of the airbox from water..

Kawasaki, as all manufacturers, strive to eliminate induction noise. In stock form (18 - 20 hp) the snorkel supplies enough flow - it does not if you spend the money to get 24-25 hp..

KLXSter, Good call on the snorkel. You don't need it.

I'm not sure about the EJK tuner, but in this thread there are the recommended settings for the Power Commander that might help.

https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...e7/#post543186

TLDR:

+4% below 3750rpm
+8% up to 7250rpm
+10% up to the top.

Instructions from Power Commander:
  • Get the Maps.
  • Select the Map Position #1 fuel table.
  • Copy all table cell values.
  • Paste those table cell values into the Map Position #2 fuel table.
  • Keep all of those table cells selected.
  • Hit the Page Up key 4 times.
  • Then just select the cells that represent the middle third of the total RPM range (3750-7250). Hit the Page up key 4 times.
  • Then select the table cells that represent the upper third of the total RPM range(7250-11000). Hit the Page Up key 6 times.
  • Send that new table into Map Position #2.
  • Set the Base potentiometer to Map Position #2.
  • Set the low, mid, and high potentiometers to zero.
  • Ride it like you stole until the wheels fall off. Bob's your uncle.

It seems that anyone that did not buy the DJ PCFC when it first came out, is out of luck...
No doubt, something having to do with Federal or State regs, killed it..

Product Notes / Warnings
Note: PCFC not available for sale in USA

Default Plugging off KLX250s PAIR Valve system

As I get ready to install my EJK tuner I’m looking into the instructions.
What exactly do they mean when they say “ “We do suggest plugging off the bikes PAIR Valve system to prevent decel pop”.

Are they referring to the O2 sensor on the bike? Since the kit comes with an ‘optional’ piece to bypass the O2 sensor?

This quote is from the EJK Tuner Page in regards to the dobeck performance product.

So, what I’m asking is what extacly is the bikes PAIR Valve system on the 2018klx 250s.
Thanks guys.

It is the air injection system. The part of the system that they call the Pair Valve is the part on your engines' head.. Yank the hose of off it, plug the hose and plug the now-exposed nipple on the head.. Do this correctly the first time - the neoprene "caps" you can buy at the hardware store will not stand up to the heat on the head - so capping the nipple with low-temp-tolerant neoprene(etc) ain't gonna cut it..
