A Thunder Ace, now that was a bad bike in it's day! It was called a YZF1000 in the states, the predecessor to the R1. I almostpicked up a 97 YZF but ended up with a 98 ZX9R. Always second guessed that one. Sorry for the TJ.

I am with everyone else. Get what makes you happy when you sit on it, look at it, and if possible ride it. If there is a 3-5 HP difference who cares? You are not going to be using every HP the bike is making all the time, If you are looking for abunch of power you are looking in the wrong place with either choice. Don't let the HP decide what bike you want. I know the Kawi is a great trail bike that will pull youup any hill that is climbable.

[8D] The talk about the difference between these two bikes has peaked myintrest. I accessed Yamaha's web site to checkrims on x model. The engine is a 4 valve motor not the 5 valve yz250 motor. I had read a arcticle thatengineers found that 5 valve intakes can not make as much top end hosepower as a 4 valvedesign. I noticed that the front down tube section unbolts from frame to allow easier engine removal.

I doesn't matter how much hp the wr. puts out because as soon as IG gets an 09 klx there won't be a better looking, better handling, better performing bike on the market.
Only until he trades up to something else. Then the '09 will be relegated to the same role as his former KLX. "The '09 KLX was okay, but the new 2010 Yamazuki 350 comes in a beatiful shade of periwinkle, and has all of the highly anticipated upgrades that the old '09 KLX always needed."
You can say what you want, but the fact is that deep down you want one, too, even if you won't admit it.

Busted! I want an '09 so bad I can't even admit it to myself! [sm=drooldude.gif]
