Tremor it is not a problem--I have the Wiseco & dont worry about it. I just take it easier on a forged piston engine when its cold since it may have a little more clearance.

Basically the only thing I have seemed to notice is a forged piston bike can tend to smoke on startup IF theywere get abused when cold, even if it is a realitivly fresh rebuild. Again, I let my bike warm up properly & have noticed nothing different than stock (except more power)

My statement was primarily based on what I have read in moto-rags & articles & yes they are most centered around ring-dings like VFR indicated. I would assume Wiseco is familiar enough with their own pistons & know about the stock bore of a KLX 300 to make a piston such that the required tolerances are built into the piston. Now on a two stroke that you bore out again & again etc. you probably need to be more careful as who knows what every Joe boring out the cylinders is doing. I also know it is not as big a deal as it used to be as they are refining the alloy used in the pistons to limit this (adding sillica rings a bell). Just my two cents.
Ya I read that the silica content has steadily increased and is now anywhere between 7 and 12%. However, as VFRpilot pointed out, since our cylinders are not sleeved, both cylinder and piston should expand at a fairly similar rate...although the pistonwill always be a bit hotter than the cylinder.[&:]

Warm up is critical IMO with a steel sleeved cylinder and a forged piston in any motor. The possibility exists for a "cold siezure" ( i have witnessed my buddies do this several times) If the motor is fired and then revved high or instantly worked hard...even in the hot summer temps...cold weather is much easier to sieze one.
Another point was mentioned above...the silica content has increased which decreases the expansion rate of the piston.
Tremor if you allow ample warm up time you'll be fine.I always hold my bare hand on the cylinder jug base first and when that gets hot i then wait to feal some heat in the left radiator.once that is warm you are good to go off easy.till the thing is warmed up.I have had this habit since i built my first 2 smoke with a high comp. piston and along with other 4 strokes and i have never had a cold siezure yet.But i do know some guys that have and they also had steel sleeved jugs which is a major factor.
My next mod will include a JE forged piston so i'm not concerned in the least about any issues.
