Will a 351 kit work on a 2018 efi
I have tried finding a answer but no one has given me a specific yes or no. I want to install the 351 kit on my 2018 efi and just want to make sure it should go smoothly since this now has efi.

Surely Kawa just added EFI to the existing engine - meaning the 351 kit would not be a problem.. However, fueling it might be an issue. One aspect of EFI tuning that is overlooked, until it forces attention, is the "headroom" of the stock injector - its' ability to increase its' performance enough to properly fuel the added requirements of a BB or any other radical increase in engine performance capability..
The term is "Injector Duty Cycle" or IDC. It is a measure of how hard the injector is working in its' effort to provide the fueling your tuner is "ordering up"... Once IDC passes 80% , a larger injector is required. You CAN run injectors past 80%, but you must know and accept the issues of doing so to longevity and the fueling irregularities that ensue.. ( Certainly carry a spare in the tool kit !)
With the specs on the stock injector and the KLX's fuel pressure, IDC calculators will show whether (or not) it is capable of 26+ hp...

I mentioned this in another thread. All I have is anecdotal observations. So take it for what it’s worth.
When i I installed my 331 with EJK controller it wasn’t working right. I checked everything and finally believed it was a faulty fuel controller. Just seemed it wasn’t getting enough fuel. I sent it back and they found a map from Japan hat had a much bigger fuel setting. Long story short, it worked and I use the lowest settings possible. (Settings hover around 2 out of 10) What I noticed is, as you increase the fuel on the fly, the rpm’s will decrease. And decrease the fuel, rpm’s will increase. Ok, nothing new there. With that in mind, as I increase the fuel controller all the way to 10, the RPM’s continue to lower. That tells me the injector must be adding more fuel. How much fuel...well, who knows. But enough to stall the bike.
For ****s and giggles I installed the 250cc EJK (I’ve got two units) to the 331 big bore and it just BARELY starts it at the highest setting. Though it won’t hold idle for long. That’s like 80+ cc difference. So with an extra 20cc difference from my 331 to 351 with the controller I have I would say anecdotally it would work.
So what I’m saying is, I believe this controller could fuel a 351. The map came out of Japan, and what were they using it for that they needed that much more fuel I wonder? A 351 with some other mods perhaps? IDK
Now as to what klxster said, is it going beyond that 80%...who knows?
Hope you can follow my logic here...I don’t always seem to be able to convey what’s in my head.

In Thailand it has local's shop names "Keng Engine" he mades the upgrade kits for 331cc and used stand alone ECU (API tech).
The Upgrade 330cc kit for DTX KLX 250.
The kit includes with following.
1. The 83mm cylinder.
2. 83mm Piston
3. Ring set
4. Piston-pin and Ring-snap.
5. Head-Gasket.
6.Cylinder-Gasket.
7.Clutch-Spring.
8.Spark-plug iridium no.9
9.Camshaft.
10.Api ecu.
This kits can install and replace standard cylinder engine.
API ECU tuning with 330cc program.
You can see more details on his Facebook https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/495874440536297/?rid=1456508297939401&rt=6
I found he also mades the upgrade kits for 363cc.

I recently fitted Bill Blue's 351 kit to my KLX 250S EFI bike, with EJK controller provided with the Bill Blue kit, and for everyone's benefit I can share my sad experience with it: bike hesitates to startup which is one problem, but even bigger problem is that reving up to 6-8k rpms and releasing throttle it dies out. My mechanic and I spent 3 hours trying out all sorts of EJK settings, but no chances of resolving this problem. I contacted Bill, he was quick to pick up the phone, but couldn't help me on this, saying he's not a fan of EFI (what kind of answer is that for someone distributing EFI kits?). Contacted EJK asking for recommended settings on the controller - no response. I tried raising rpms, taking airbox lid out, unplugging stock exhaust to see if any of it helps to get rid of stalling issue - nothing helps. Having spent ~1000 eur on this upgrade (I'm in Europe, so customs taxes are applicable), and 300 more for mechanic work, I just wanna cry for being so naive! For those of you thinking of fitting 351 kit on KLX250 EFI, consider other options out there.. perhaps 292cc upgrade might work better, I hope.
