Default Who all makes big bore kits?

I know of BB and Kustom Kraft, but who else makes one for our bikes. Here's one concern of mine with the BB big bore. I have checked out his web site and seen a picture of him and looks like a nice retired man. Then I got to thinking if I buy a big bore kit from him and something should happen to him in the near future, who do I go to for parts.

Example: If I get BB's 351 kit and something happens in say 5 years, and BB is no longer around/fully retired where do I go for new gaskets, pistons etc. I don't think kustom kraft is going anywhere any time soon.

So, what other companies are out there that make the big bore kit. I have no intention of buying one at this time. I'm only trying to gather all of the facts and knowledge I can before diving right in. I have not read of 1 complaint about bb's kit, everyone seems to just love it. One thing I have not seen or talked about, can you still use the stock exhaust with the 351.

I've still got the stock exhaust with my 351, no problems at all.

Thanks, is your carb in your signature BB's to. I've been looking at that as well, but not until after the 351 kit. I plan to do things in baby steps and not because of money. I have seen where people retained their stock carbs. Maybe the 351 is all I need. Everyone wants/needs differnet things.

Doesn't Bill get the gaskets, piston, and all other components from outside suppliers? I wonder if it would be available from them without a big order number?

Wish I knew the answer to the question. You never know what may happen down the road. Maybe my head cracks and would need a new one. Well I would need a new gasket as well, but it would need to be for a 351. I feel very confident in saying I will buy BB's 351. Just looking for other suggestions.

Yes, Cometic makes the HG, the base gaskets are stock, the piston is JE. The ONLY thing Bill does is bores/sleeves the jug. You can order the HG directly from Cometic - give them the part # on the package it came in. Same with the Piston/rings from JE.

So as long as you don't explode your cylinder, you'll be able to get parts for it until JE and Cometic go out of business.

Thanks for the info so far. I didn't think the base gasket was stock, learn somehting new every day.

So, if I get a kit from BB what else do I need?

1. New jets of course

2. New gasket for banjo bolt ( may not be correct name )

3. ?

And remember you should have the original 250 that you could always revert back too as long as your original was in working . Good point though.

I plan on keeping my 250 cyl. It will cost me another $175, but I could always go back if I need to.
