Wheel Wobble

RE: Wheel Wobble
My 09 wobbles as well...
To me its just my weight plus my speed with the bikes weight and wind drag...I had a semi along side of me at 70mph and had to change lanes and back off the throttle hard....Was almost enough to send my bike airborne..Even SUVz at 60mph and 5 car lengths behind is too much.....Our bikes are to light and the reverse parachute on the front doesnt help.............

RE: Wheel Wobble
my bike also starts to whobble at 65+, i'm kinda surprised because
the dirtbikes we had when we were 16 made it to 60-65 with only
50-75 ccm without whobble and those were lightweights, same size
like the KLX... ill try to find a picture of the bike
same here, i have 1350 and i wont get more than
anoter 100-200 out of it, thinking about going supermoto...

Bump....thought I'd bring this thread to the top. I have read on several posts lately about whobble problems with our bikes. I have NEVER had this problem in the 4000 miles (mostly street) I have ridden my bike. Running Pirelli Scorpions front/rear at about 20PSI. A death wobble on my bike would ground me for sure. Hope it never happens. Has anyone here bought a tried-and-true damber solution for the KLX?
Cheers

I emailed scotts about a damper for the 09. Nothing planned for production yet, they said they would email me when they do.....
The WER damper I don't think would work. I just regreased my steering head brgs (thanks to the pics in the one thread) and there is no room under the head light assembly due to the headlight frame & mounts.
A kx250 top bar clamp/damper mount & weld on post was suggested would work in another thread. BRP sub mount (stabilizer under bars) would be ideal.
Never experienced the speed wobbles on the 09 klx at speed, but on my skateboard and TE450 Husky it was pretty scarey and the scotts damper took care of it no problem.

Wow, one of my orginal posts. This brings back memories.
The solution to the problem I had orginally were the tires for the most part. It seems after I replaced the stock Dunlop 603 with Kenda K270, I didn't have the wheel wobble any more. Now the KLX will cruise just fine at 75mph as it would at 35mph. Everything else, I haven't changed, still stock settings.

I went to a new set of tires where the front has less of a crown than the old one and the wobble is induced much easier new.
I'm waiting to see the effect when the new motard suspension goes in. That should relax the geometry again.
