What is the top speed expected from a klx250s

I don't see any reason to bring a knife to a gun fight, pee into the wind or otherwise challenge the Gods of Chance for no good reason. While our bikes will do 80+ in the right conditions thats not what they were designed for.
By definition a DS is a (bad) compromise between dirt and street and the good ones (I'll include the KLX here) is skewed more to dirt applications. I ride my bike to the trailhead, where the fun really starts. Anything else is gravy.

+1 on this. If I'm in the lower speeds I'm only a few off. At speeds above 55 mph if is almost constant 5 mph off. If the bike indicates 70 on the speedo, I'm only doing 65 on the GPS.

FWIW
I understand the stock speedo on the 250s is just a little less than 10% fast. I have compared the s & sf at speeds of 40 & 50mph and it apears the sf speedo must be pretty close as it registers about 10% lower than the s.
Cheers Jim

Speedo Off & Max Speed
The stock speedo is about 10% off at most speeds. This is based on readings from my GPS.
Speedo / GPS
27mph / 25 mph
38mph / 35 mph
50 mph / 45 mph
61 mph / 55 mph
It is always 10%.
The fastest I've had my bike up to is 72 mph on the speedo = 65 mph on the GPS. The bike handles just fine at that speed. Most of the time I keep the speedo between 61 and 65 on the freeway.

84 mph in 5th gear 10,000 RPM. Also 85 in 6th at what ever rpm. I think it has a little more, but hey..... Box Stock. This is for the SF model with stock street tires. It handles fine, but more like a bicycle than a motor cycle.

The counter generates a large error KLX data, approximately 10% +. When the speedometer indicated 120km / h, it happens that the actual GPS speed was 110km / h.
I tend to think that the speed of your bike were these 150 km / h.

According to my Garmin gps 80.4 mph was the max I hit on a flat road with no wind and sitting up. The speedometer indicated over 90mph.
I knew it was off before I mounted the GPS but didnt realise it was that much.
When your front tire wears the spedometer will read higher as the circumfrence of the tire becomes shorter. You could probably go with a slightly taller profile in the front to narrow that gap a little.
