Tweaked the suspension and went for a ride. Pretty awesome weather for November.

Default Rear Suspension Lube / Repair

Put this job off way too long. One swingarm bearing toasted, required replacement and all five bearings on pivot were hurting for grease.

Pressing out swingarm bearings with bench vice worked fine. Lubed all others with marine grease.

Whole job took about 3 hours. Could have saved buying new bearings if I'd done it a year ago when I first thought about it.

If you ride in mud and water I'd keep an eye on your rear suspension bearings. Re-lube at least once a year.

Today we did some extensive cleaning to take advantage of the bikes being taken apart for work.

Commuted with the snorkel on. Liked the lower sound. Disliked the noticeably lower torque/power. Removed snorkel. The end.

New to me '09 KLX250S..1733 miles... fully farkled:

1st thing I did was adjust the preload on the rear shock to better hold my fat *** up off the ground...lol

Noticed the valve cover leaks pretty bad. Read forum... known '09 problem. Attempt to fix using present gasket and RTV... FAIL, too small. Order new gasket and wait.. $$

While removing IMS tank, notice PO used a mix of bolts and lost half the rubber dampers, seat button, several washers.. you name it. Ordered a few small parts to get the tank mounted properly again and picked up enough bolts at Lowes to make it so I can take it all apart with one or two tools instead of 5.

FMF exhaust... nuts on header studs were loose so I torqued them. Then found that PO only used rear most mount on the muffler. I bent the wire loop by passenger peg out a little more, elongate the hole in the forward mount, and installed 2nd bolt.. Done

Brake light flasher... worked great with engine off, but went schitzo with engine running... didn't want to send driver behind me into epileptic fit... so I had to find the flasher... turns out is was the bulb itself, so I replaced it with a new standard 1157.

I can't ride till the valve cover gasket comes in, so I read some an advrider and here on the KLX250 forum... oh, and drank a few beers...

Drilled out two of 3 exhaust can end cap screws that had broken off some months ago. then drilled and tapped oversized. Drilled all through holes oversize. Getting some new screws at the hardware store then I can use the new spark screen and get off-road in the NF without fear of the rangers and give my S wheelset some use.

Not super exciting...but received my service manual, and a few small parts (little spring that goes behind oil filter, crush washer, and O rings) in the mail today.

E.T.A. Also ordered an air box lid, snorkel, and air filter cage thing....from thumper talk, surprisingly expensive for those parts!!!
