FYI
Got an '06 KLX250 with a stock size front tire.
Out of curiosity I checked my speedometer yesterday using my Garmin ETrex 20 that displays mph to 1/10th. Turns out my speedo reads fast by about 10%.
40 is really 36, 80 is really 72, etc.
Speedo says it tops out @ about 90, actually just a bit over 80.

Good to know, I guess.

While I haven't been that fond of most factory LCD/electronic instrumentation, replacing that dinosaur, antique, analog instrument panel on the '06/'07 with a Trailtech Vapor was an extremely excellent upgrade. That stuff on our '06/'07 models looks like the same crap that was on my 1974 KE175 Kawasaki. There's a real weight advantage also when you dump that ancient history. The Vapor and any similar units also give you digital water temp along with several other very useful data points.

My '12 is also off by 10% fast. Makes it easy to do the math when I NEED to know how fast I'm really going...
