Default Under 2 years, 36,000+ km, first failure

Towards the end of last week, my bike started developing a whistle inside the muffler. It got worse, and now it's VERY annoying.
Last night I've removed the muffler, gave it a good shake and nothing's lose inside. I am guessing the baffle somehow is making the noise. Maybe a crack or a tweaked. It probably deteriorated inside with use.

At least now I have a good reason to buy a new pipe. Thou, Ima have to wait until someone comes to visit, to smuggle it to me.

...But still sucks I have to ride with that whistle...thing sounds more like an old VW.

The KLR650 develops something called the "Tweety." I wonder if it is a similar issue?

No Scott...that's just the nickname everyone gave you when you bought a KLR.

Yeah, sounds like the infamous KLR650 "tweety", but Malves' deal may be something caused more by rust and time. Many of the KLR's developed it rather quickly. Still, probably all based in the same issue of something getting deposited in just the right place to make that funky noise. I've been riding with someone with a KLR making tweety, and it's a funny noise. I even thought it might be something close to that sound some of us have heard on our KLX that we were talking about recently on another post. However, many of us with the sound have totally different exhaust systems, and it's not as consistent as a good tweety.

Yeah, Iīve seen KLR show up on google when searching for the problem. I'm also thinking it's a combination of rust, time and use.
I said inside the muffler, but the whistle comes on right at the tip of the "straw" (pipe). If I put my finger to close 1/3 of the opening, the noise goes away. I've used a flashlight to look inside of it and everything looks normal, nothing bent or cracked. I really have no clue.

Guess I'll have to wait until I can replace it.

I really havenīt had any other problems/issues with the bike. All parts I've replaced were because of maintenance or for the extra "bling". Little bike is a little tank.
