Hmmm...it was very easy to change the routing of the clutch cable.
1) Loosen the barrel adjuster all the way on the clutch lever.
2) Loosen the two bolts that hold the cable holderon the engine case.
3) There is enough play in the cable to easily move the cable out of the actuator arm that moves the clutch plates on the engine.

I don't know how you forced it?

Look up at the clutch lever...sometimes the housing moves and is not sitting in the guide.

 

Well, all seems okay now...I ended up putting the cable back the same way it was as I didn't like how the cable looked when the bars were turned all the way to the right, yes the clutch still worked but it just semmed to put a strain on the cable, so I went withputting extrawashers on the rear bolts of the front fender and this made the bike and me happy... no more fender rubbing and in fact the washersdon't have to be really thick washers either. I put thick ones under there (say 3/16 thick) and I ended up with well over 1/4 inch of clearance. I may need to adjust the clutch after all that as I had the clutch in and hit the starter button and felt the bike roll ahead ever so slightly, but all else seems okay.

 

You might have forced the little (how do i explain this),.....clutch release cam over center ever so slightly.This would cause the jammup you described...It's hard to explain but if you took one apart before you would know what i am talking about.you should be ok now that your cable is routed fine...The drag was prolly caused by the cable being run an odd route.
Lauren...I know he used the shortcut which is what most of us guys do and that is to NOT remove the 2 bolts holding the bracket for the cable.I use a screwdriver and just slide the release arm over and then pop the cable out.The smart way to do it is the way you are doing it...just unbolt it...It only takes 30 seconds or so....Not sure why i still try to remove things like a caveman tho.

 

After some thought, I decided to go the route of shimming the rearmostfront fenderbolts with three washers.
I think that is the best technique with the UnaBiker Guards.
Now there is plenty of clearance!!!
I routed my clutch cable back to the original way.
All is good now and I'm back to a "stock" configuration for the cable routing.

Actually I did remove the bracket as well....if there is a way to screw things up, I will succeed in finding it.
