Took bike out of storage, need some tips.
+1^ on the KLX tips. +100^ on the welcome home and "thank you for your service!!"
My neice's husband just returned, too. A tank commander in Afghan, and had served in Iraq, previously. SERIOUS respect for you guys.
Bleed your brakes. The fluid is hydrophilic. The moisture will do bad things to your lines/hardware if you don't.....not to mention not stopping you! Use FRESH can. Let us know if we can help.

Thank you very much! I'll do that, good thing I'm extremely mechanically inclined so all I need is simple directions and I can go from there. I love working on my bike and truck, I learn something new every time I mod/fix something
You CAN leave coolant in there forever if you choose. It loses its anti corrosive properties over time. Change it. It's cheap. Your father should do the same on his KLR. Look for "silicate free" which most is these days.
Brake bleeding can be finicky. I've had good luck with the vacuum-type device sucking fluid out at the slave cylinder end, and keep the master cylinder full while sucking out the old.
There may be ethanol free gas near by...http://www.buyrealgas.com/
Welcome back. Thanks for your service!

That's what is so cool about this forum.
Welcome home klx250sawyer. I learned the hard way to add some Stabil if I was going to store my bike. I've had great luck since.

The listed Kawasaki bikes "will tolerate" E10. If you expect it to run properly all the time, don't use it. Run premium instead. Give it another ten years and that could well change, things like this often do.
There's a BIG difference between "designed for" and "will tolerate".

Minnesota and several other states, have had mandated exclusive E10 across the board for over 15 years.....you can't get anything but.
There are a ton of bikes that run perfect on E10, there is no reason the KLX shouldn't either......just an excuse IMHO.
E15 is on the horizon.
Yip, 25 miles long, 5 miles wide and 1/2 mile high mountain sticking out of the ocean, with no cops to hassle us dual sporters.
