Tire recomendations
I always thought the main thing about DOT or non-DOT was that the manufacturer paid money to test them, showing the carcass would hold up to the heat of running higher speeds. I know a DOT-rated 606 chunked the middle ***** off running down the road at 60-65 mph one day. My Geomax 71's (non-DOT) held up just fine....but, they didn't pay the money for the stamp.
I don't really know, but, I suspect it's something akin to the Rotella not being JASO rated for decades, until they finally paid for the testing...and, magically, it's now JASO MA rated. I've been using it almost as long as I've been riding (1970's), and I've NEVER had an oil-related problem, nor any clutch problems from running Rotella before it got it's magic stamp of approval.

I've ran the 760's for one season now and they have been fine. Mostly road miles though, they handle like a knobby on the pavement. They do great off road, the rear did wear but it should last at least another half season.
Im still a huge fan of Metzeler Sahara Enduro3 tires.. they last a very long time 2000-3000 miles half worn down and totally remove headshake at 70 - 80 MPH. In the dirt they are average.. on the street they are top notch... they are what KTM puts on their 690 enduros
I agree with Ol KLX-er; tires are hardly the limiting factor to the KLX exceeding 100mph…
I am generally not a scrimper when it comes to tires but I’d suggest that under normal riding conditions, especially if you are just staying on the street, that premium tires such as Michelins will be wasted on the KLX. It’d be kind of like buying a bottle of single-malt scotch and then mixing it with Coke.
The KLX is a great fun little bike but it’s hardly going to push street tires to the limit on road. I agree with others who have suggested that Kendas, Shinkos, etc will be more than adequate.

ive got D606 on front and rear,120 rear (abit to big)and 90/90 front, they are great tires.I think im gonna give mitas stone eaters a try next time around, they look abit more agressive for off road hope they are not to sketchy on the slab.
My vote is Dunlop 606. I recently bought Michelin t63 all around.. NOT a good dirt tire.. but great for street. Best dirt tire Ive had on the KLX so far is Metzeler 6 days extreme.. DOT certified too.. but they wear kindof quickly
