Talk me out of getting a KLX.

Hey Prefader...What's that little chamber deal at the exhaust tip of your scooter? Some kind of resonator or a way to smuggle untaxed tequila in from Mexico?
Just a muffler. Nothing to see there. Newp, nothing at all.
Seriously, though . . . it's a weird looking configuration, for sure. Since the header and chamber are so long on that pipe, they just wrapped it around on itself to keep it from sticking way out past the back of the bike. My favorites, though, are the "circuit" style exhausts:
Puch maxi Proma Circuit
It must be a living nightmare trying to get some of these pipe dimensions to actually fit on the bikes they're designed for.
Linkin5: Every once in a while, some random bump in the road, pothole, manhole cover or stick catches me unaware, and I get 7 plies of vinyl-wrapped hickory right where it counts. Keeps me out of the fatherhood business, I guess. How often has your KLX done that to you?
Oh, and a big thanks to CousinLarry for being the lone voice of dissent, and to everyone else for helping make my decision so easy.

Kick the stupid hoe in the kooch and move along.
For getting to work and putting around town it's a great bike. I'm not totally impressed offroad, but dualsport is a compromise. I look at small bores like overall skill. Don't see many 125 2t racing anymore. They can be just as fast with the right rider, but the lazy racers like the 4 strokes. More fun to go fast on a slow bike than go slow on a fast bike.
When I first saw your current ride I thought you were from Vietnam. LOL Dude dont listen to the power haters, the KLX will be 5 times as fast than that thing. Trust me. Even stock you will love it. Don't get the motard version of the KLX, that's like buying a 2 wheel drive truck. Get the Dual sport KLX and be done with it.
I'm a dual sport kind of guy. I've driven Jeeps for the past 18 years, have a baja bug, and the KLX250S fits right it with my driving style. It goes anywhere I want it to go. My wife wanted a scooter last year, so I got her one. She never road it. It killed me to look at that thing just sitting, so I rode it. It's fun for what it is, but the need for more power is always present. The KLX250 gets it done. It's not a speed machine, but it's enough. The extra speed is there when you need it. I got a used 2009 with 1000 miles on it and saved a few bucks. I knew I was gonna drop it, so I didn't want a new one. My only complaint at 5'8" is the seat height. I've been dealing with it for 6 months, but just bit the bullet and got the 1.5" lowering links. I hate to loose the ground clearance, but it's just a tad tall for me. I'm done with the balancing act at lights and off-road. Fuel tank is small and the seat is pretty hard. Anyways, no need to talk you out of it you know you need it. The TU250 is a small entry level beginner bike... maybe even a girl bike. No pizzaz. Time to man up son. You're not getting any younger. You'll be 42 in no time.
