Default Swap meet muffler

So I went to the Thompson CT swap meet and found mufflers off an 07-08? Yamaha R1. The guy asks if I had an R1. I replied no I have a dual sport and a welder. He said hows 20$. YUP Ill take em. After carefull planning measuring etc. I ended up ordering an 1-5/8 stainless mandrell bent pipe from jegs. I also got some stainless bits from work. I ended up cutting the muffler down 1-1/2" and removing the end cap. I sandwiched it between stainless with nuts welded on the inside piece and smashed it back in. I fitted the pipe, tacked it in place till the guy at work could tig it and went to work on the muffler hanger. It took forever but I got it done and it sounds good. It's purrfect.

I don't reccomend trying this mod unless you have fab skills and some tools. Everything I do is the hard way I don't have a great shop or money to throw at a project like this just a lot of time.

I forgot to mention the mufflers are Titanium.

Nice work! Often the silencer is generic and will work on any bike. It's only the header & collector pipes that need to be tuned to the specific engine...
I once grafted a set of Harley silencers onto a Suzuki GS1000 4into2 system with interesting audio results!

I had a Suzuki LT185 that I put a Briggs 16hp V-twin in and with the stock muffler I swore it sounded like a Harley, just not as loud. Mufflers are fun.

How does the new muffler perform and sound?

I had a klx300 pipe with a 1' square plug that was raspy but not to obnoxious. With the end cap off it was just loud but felt a bit faster. The R1 pipe is about 20% bigger in/out and seems to add a little punch according to the butt dyno. It's just got a deeper tone like a slip on without being overly loud.
